Dispatches from Siberia - 2009
Lake Baikal is the Pearl of Siberia, the Sacred Sea. Last year I assisted the Great Baikal Trail Association (GBT) constructing hiking trails in national parks surrounding the lake. I'm going back this autumn to continue that effort.
I'll be accompanied by veteran world traveler Jennie Douglas. Experiencing Siberia for the first time, she will use her skills as an expert in organizational design to help GBT continue to thrive and grow.
Click on the dispatches below to share the journey as we explore Baikal and enjoy our time with the people of Siberia.

SCA Trail Crews - 1983-2004
Some of my best journeys have been with backcountry trail crews of the Student Conservation Association. Gorgeous landscapes, teenagers motivated to do something good for the land, and a month for the adventures to unfold. Click here for a quick look at my young co-conspirators setting off for outrageously good times.
